How do you describe yourself & you
consider yourself as?
Well, while talking about me, I
would say I am very confident, soft spoken, easily affected
by anything, bit moody with a touch of being fashionable with
the ongoing trend.
One thing is for sure, I am least bothered about what people
say & think. As long as I can justify with the things
I do and makes me feel good about it, I go ahead and do it.
About my career, I would like to state it in a simple way
and that is, firstly, I am a human being than I am a daughter
to my parents and I also carry an identification of an artist.

Tell us about how you started your career?
During my classical music classes,
I was approached by a band named ’NEBHA’ a rock
band to join them as their lead vocalist. It was a nice experience
and I did a few gigs with them. An idea of me going solo was
from the very beginning. It was my very first desire or lets
say I was looking further to establish myself as "Preeti
Kaur" rather than being a vocalist of a band. |

Tell us about your friends, which gender
would you feel more comfortable with? From
my early days in school, we had more boys students than girls
itself. I was comfortable & familiar with them more than
the girls. Even today’s context, there are mostly boys
in every workstation with whom I have to deal everyday, be
it while making music or on stage. So, my friendship has been
mostly with boys. I kind of like hanging around with them
rather than talking about accessories with girls. |

|
|
| |
About your stage performances, how do
you present yourself?
That normally depends on where and what
I am presenting. If its and outdoor performance, I usually
wear jeans. If its an indoor events, depending upon the venue,
I wear jeans or formal dresses. According to the dresses,
I wear lots of fancy jewellries accordingly. |

How about your parents and their thinking
about your career?
One word to that and that is, my
parents are very “COOL” about me being a singer.
My parents have never ignored my deeds and me. They are quite
supportive and co-operative with my work and have created
a lovely environment for me to work. They agree with my thoughts
of being a singer. In fact they are the one who supports me
when I feel down and motivates me to fight for another day.
They have done a lot for me. I am proud to be daughter of
such lovable and caring parents.

What do you think of getting married?
Any marital pressures form your parents? I
have not yet thought about getting married and why should
I cause I believe that first we should built up our career.
I’ve been telling you my parents are very friendly instead
of injecting the thought of marriage into my life they agree
to my idea of career first. The main point is that I want
to be a recognized artist first. |

Tell us about your album, its sales
& market review? Well my
album consists various type of music from rock, pop and bit
of rap as well along with classical type of music. I can say
it’s a mixed bag of melodious music.
I am getting quite a good review of the album and they are
appreciating the type of music I have done. The sales has
not really picked up, as we have not really promoted the album
itself. So far we have only shown the promotion clips of the
album and the sales had already crossed few thousand. I am
releasing a music video soon and hope that the sales will
grow higher. |

|

What are the ingredients that you follow
to make a good music? To start
off with, first I give preference to the beat itself than
accordingly chose the lyrics for it. A good composing is a
must for any song. |

Tell us about
“Shikhar Beat Contest”, yours winning as a band
and as the best vocalist. Did your career boost up and how's
life after it?
Indeed it was a great thing for all of us. Winning a prestigious
award as such is a dream come true. Firstly, I was shocked
and I simply had no words to express my victory. Wining the
‘Shikhar Beat Contest’ is a memento to my band
members and me. |

Any messages to the sponsor of the event
and the wannabe's? Well it’s a
good platform to get instant recognition, provided you win
the contest. Interviewing and having pictures in various media
was like a dream come true. I suggest all musicians out there
to give it a try. It does not make a different whether you
win or loose. Showing what you are is the best thing in life.
To the sponsors, Thumbs Up "Surya Nepal"!!! for
organizing such a mega event as such. What I personally request
is, prize money is good no doubt but its not everything. What
an upcoming bands like ours need is grooming. We would have
appreciated if they had sponsored the Album and promoted as
the winners. |

Have you been sexually harassed or felt
that way during this periods? Sexually
harassed. No. There is always two side of a coin you can never
omit it. The point is not to pay attention to such misbehaves.
I am a girl and you know there are several problems that come
in our way. But that won’t stop me from being what I
want to be. There are many nice people too in this industry. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
What kind of quality do you seek in
a man of your dream?
Dream man?!!? Ah, I am not asking
for much. I ask what I think is asked by all the girls. He
should be trust worthy, good looking I mean presentable, he
should have respect towards my feelings and work, good sense
of humor, should not have a quite personality. He should be
flexible to the situations & should faith on each other. |

How important is media to you? Do you
consider as a media babe as I see you in various forms of
media now and then? Media is
of course a very important factor for any artist as they make
or break them Media today plays a big part to artist’s
career and gives an image to it so people can except and like
them.
Well media have been very generous to me from the very beginning.
According to the sales of my album I can say I have been in
a limelight. Due to such love of the people I have managed
my way to the top 10. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Tell us about your record label? Any
message to them? Well it would
very stupid of me if I say my career in this field have been
welcomed me with red carpet. I had my share of bitter experience
and pray the god not to happen again. Now I have singed with
one of the best record label company and satisfied with it.
What I would like to say to all the record label here is,
they should differentiate the capability of the artist. They
should be nice to the new comers as bitter experience can
really break them. They should promote the artist and their
creation in a proper way as promoting the artists is promoting
themselves. |
