How did you get into this field and
your first experience?
I was always interested in singing from my early years. In
1999, I went for a semi classical training in Sursudha. Then
in 2002, I did my first song recording. I was always conscious
of the fact that I could sing well, so, I wasn’t nervous,
but a little scared towards the outcome of the album and the
response of the people.

What is your general view about the
music industry and the music scene in Nepal?
The music industry in Nepal has a lot of
potential but due to lack of infrastructure and proper training,
it is not meeting it's full potential. Though, it has a long
way to go and the music industry is growing too. The major
difference between us and our forefathers in terms of music
is that we get to have multiple takes until the music is perfect.

What profession have you always longed
for?
As I have mentioned earlier, I was always
interested in becoming a singer . That does not mean that
I had discarded my books. I was always good in my studies.

How long do you think that you can carry
on in this industry? Also about your next album?
I want to be a part of this industry as
long as I can. Even if my voice loses its touch, I will indirectly
try to stick with it. I might open my own music school. My
next second album release is due on May, but the title name
has not been finalized yet. |

the DV 2005 for USA, now what are your future plans?
Thank You. I want to remain a part of Nepal’s
music industry. I will be contacting our musical compatriots
in America & by the God's will, we might even perform
an album over there itself. |

What do you think of the new generation
of singers?
I think the music industry is finally coming
in terms with the west due to the new talents with the new
taste of the music. One can easily find that out by just listening
to the ongoing trend of music. |

Love Life
Describe your marital life?
My husband is very supportive of my singing
career. He is the reason that I can churn out songs one
after another. My children are also co-operative towards
me.
Where would you like your husband to
take you on a dream date?
Last time we visited Daman and it is like
a HEAVEN ON EARTH. So I wouldn't mind he takes me there
once again.
What if an alien from an another planet
proposes to you?
I’d say it is too late. (quite a
sense of humour)
For young & wannabe be singers
Describe a perfect singer?
A perfect singer is one who can
sing all kind of songs i.e. who is diversified and adapts
to the changing trends around him.
What do you say to the parents?
In a place like Nepal I was fortunate
enough to find such parents who supported me when I entered
this music industry. But in Nepal the parents think that
this industry is bad for girls. Therefore they should support
their children in whatever field they choose.
In Nepal’s context, what
are the ways by which the music industry can thrive?
It is very hard to get into Nepal’s musical industry
and even more for girls as the companies are not interested
in them. Therefore the companies have to reshuffle their
judgements towards girls. Also the infrastructure should
be made strong.
What do you say to the wannabe singers?
Singing is a difficult task to master
and one should always strive to give their best shot. Practise
and patience are the keys to success.
