So how is it easy for the new singers?
Hard work and patience is necessary in every
field. One cannot understand its value without struggling.
Music arrangers and composers are more available now so is
the market and the technology has improved which were lacking
during our time.

How did your singing career start? I
started out as a guitarist and never thought of singing. After
some concerts and albums, I started singing. People knew me
as a pop singer. At first I used to cover for English songs
then came back slowly to Nepali old songs. After some individual
track recording, I got a good mileage. I then realized English
songs did not have enough potential here in Nepal. So I moved
towards Nepali songs as my ultimate choice. I had my first
recording as “Chodi gayo Priya”. My first album
was with my band “littnus” “ASAI ASMA”. |

My childhood
I was raised as an ordinary child,
born and brought up in Patan, in a completely Newari society.
It was so hard for me to adjust in my school (Arniko boarding
school) because I spoke no other language than newari. I was
not that active till class 4, then I started joining extra
curricular activities. After participating in various curricular
fields I started having confident in my abilities and myself. |

Who supported you initially?
I have always liked different flavor of
music though none of my family members were from the music
field. I even used to memorize my text answers in a poetic
ways in my schools days. I think all the credit goes to my
mother. At home there was a lot of pressure on me to leave
music. As per my father’s point of view, there was no
scope, he was totally against it. But now even my father likes
it too. My mother always encouraged me and my girlfriend now, wife
supported me all this time. |

What is your general view about the
music industry and the music scene in Nepal? 10
years before there was nothing compared to now. Though it
has managed to earn a lot of respect and infrastructure in
a short time it still has a long way to go. When no one used
to know me or listen to my music I was still fine with it.
People liked my creation, so I am happy. I enjoy my style
of music & working.

What do you think you will be doing
5 years down the line? Without
music my life is incomplete. Whether it is 5 years or 10 years
down the line, I’ll be with music till my last breathe.
I have already started with my recording studios. Even if
that times when I am not able to sing I’ll still be
making music and my recording studio will feature other musicians
and singers. I have also started a music academy, "Royal
Tone" for the same. |

Tell us three things about yourself
that others do not know about you?
I am very short-tempered
I am very lazy
I don’t rest until my project
is over meanwhile I don’t care about the rest.

|
|
| |
What is your dream project?
I want to become a founder of a
music institute, completely owned by me!!!! (Proudly said
by Deepak Bajracharya) |

How do you cope the pressures of fame?
I am a very simple person.
If I feel like it, I don't mind going for Rs10 momos in a
small restaurant but to maintain my eminence I have to go
for Rs 100 momos. Well my fame leaves me with no other choice
but high expenses to pay off my success. People treat music
artist just like a tape recorders or radios, either sing or
turn off. They don’t take music as a profession. But
to me I live for music. I like to give time to my fans whenever
it possible. |

How do you think the Nepali media has
treated you?
Though there are many amateur critics
who think they can make and break artists, there are a lot
of good people as well. Nepali media has helped me a lot .The
pop music growth in Nepali music is mainly due to Nepali media
and the wonderful listeners. The media needs the good artists
and vice-versa.

What do you think is the best thing
about music? To me, music is
the component of life, which shares your sorrows, happiness
and every other emotion. A small dose of music is enough to
make your body tingle. |

Perceptions in Life
Life is: I
feel, God has sent me on earth to introduce and continue
with good music.
Death is:
End Of Life.
Singing is:
A practice. Practice makes man perfect.
Love is:
Life controller. Without it nothing works. It encourages
one to never give up hope.
Music is:
Dharma. It gives peace of mind.
Moments:
Never forgotten
Priceless moments
Most memorable moment: -
When I heard my song first time in Radio Nepal around 12
years ago, I was really glad.
Saddest moment: -
After my accident I could not even play my guitar. The bus
had fallen off the highway. I think that was the most hardships
I faced in my entire life.
Music moment: -
Once I was totally left alone after a musical program. Even
my friends had left me. I had to carry all my instruments
in spite it was raining.
For young
& wannabe be singers
Describe a perfect singer?
No one is born with the idea of perfection. One life is
not enough to become perfect. Singing and playing instruments
is not enough. One should sing in notes and timing should
be good. One should also have a good voice of course!!!
What do you say to the parents?
Education is not limited to books. I’ll say you need
to be transparency in every field. Dedication and struggle
is required to achieve success in every field .I mean education
along with other field is required.
About your music academy "The
Royal Tone"
I have invested all my money and efforts linked to it, into
my studio "The Royal Tone". The aim of my studio
is to provide the end product from my side. I want to encourage
the youngsters, a platform to start with which I did not
get. The platform is ready, now all they have to do is to
build the building of their dreams. I remember the times
when my band members got discouraged and left this field
of music. I survived because I had patience. I do not want
the same to happen to others who wants to make a career
out of it. I want the youngsters to have a place to start
and work upon themselves. I guess i am doing my part of
job for the society in my own possible way. It is an ordinary
studio with a touch of comfort where one can feel at home.
All Music Lovers are invited as our motto says it all, “Bringing
out the music within you”.
