Life and its ups and downs when shaped in a
proper way can result in real good music. Someone has rightly
said if you don't like music you don't need songs, you need
a psychologist. For us it's basically the driving force behind
our friendship and in its own way-life.

How did you get into
the field of music?
Sanad
When we were small I used to listen to a lot of music. Then
I saw my brother playing the guitar and I also wanted to learn
it. Basically I did not know anything just a guitar reef of
Nirvana's Come as you are. I used to play the same thing 24
hrs a day. Then I started getting interest into music. I Started
learning guitar and its cords.Shaurav:Sanad inspired me. Until
class 10 I was not interested in music to such an extent.
I used to sing. I met Sanad and slowly we jammed up .We used
to bunk classes and create our own songs.People liked our
song.Yam-I was always interested in music. I was a drummer
from my former school days.I bought my own drum and learnt
by myself .Playing in the school concerts gave me a lot of
confidence.
Describe the process of setting up a band.

On the day of Farewell Night of class 12 we privately went
out.There in our secret hideout we decided to form a band.We
met in our school and from then on we have stayed together.

How come the band was named
Okhar?
Sanad
It was a party.These guys they were drunk. Our bassist was
wearing a cap called Joker .He stood up and He decided that
our band should be named Joker.Yam :No.Our band will be called
as Okhar.And we liked the name.Shaurav:It was cachy.We thought
that it's a typical Nepali name but it sounds somewhat English.Atleast
the people will listen to our song at least once just to know
what Okhar is all about. |

Who supported u initially?
Yam
Well parents said that studies was important.But to whoever
we played the song, liked it.They asked us why not take out
an album.We did a few concerts and took out the album.
Where were u stationed and where r u stationed at right now?
Elaborate.Sanad:Its basically the exams results have come
out.I might go to Dharan for further studies but I discussed
it with my father about studying in Kathmandu. |

Your future plans?
Shaurav
I think we will complete the album soon.We will work separately.We
had money problems.Yam:Maybe if our promotional album gets
a liitle more successful we might get producers.

What hardships did you face?
Sanad
We have faced a lot of hardships.Like Bishal,Yam and Shaurav
have done a lot.My family is little strict.They went to the
studios.They are not familiar with Kathmandu.They went to
SAV.They talked and everyone is liking our song.But the success
was a sweet nectar to our hardships.They went to Taal music
,Music.com.SAV promote new artists.Shaurav:The first time
we went there we met Sabin Rai's composer.He listened to our
song and did not react at all.Just told us to come after 2
days after the bandh.We went there and told us that we had
some potential.We never expected that with us.He asked us
to immediately sign a contract.

What do you think are the
qualities that separate you from others?
Sanad
We are amateurs.One advantage that we have over other bands
is that in such a short period of time our songs have earned
a lot of fame and success.That too without any orchestras.It
was basic.Shaurav:I still think that we can do better though.We
play our own music.The music is straight from the heart. |

Compatibility ,interest and same level of knowledge and mutual
respect should be present to the highes degree.Yam:The music
you produce should give you satisfaction.

How do you prepare for a
concert?
Sanad
We never prepare.Usually it is spontaneous.If the concert
is at 10 o' clock.We start preparing at 9 o'clock.Everybody
writes the lyrics.The problem is which to sing with us.Then
comes the improvising part.You need a good start and the chorus.
